Stupid or not question about opened oil!
OK, so daft question or maybe not, does opened oil have a particular 'shelf life'? Does it go off in any way?
EG, i have an opened 5ltr worth of Pro R 15w 50 oil which i use for topping up. To say i only use a little bit every 3 months is an understement, LOL.
So, it will be sitting in my garage for ages before i need it again.
So, does this affect its properties?

Not a daft question at all! Some brands have a fill date, but I can't remember seeing a "use by" date, and that goes for most other oil based products.
As long as you keep the container sealed it should last a long time (at your next oil change, use that up first?) I'm going to mail Millers with such a question and post their answer.

I mailed Millers and they reckon engine and gearbox oils should be OK for 5-10 years if stored and sealed (keep the lid on!) Fuel additives ideally should be used within 12 months due to the volatile ingredients. Bugger! I've got a couple of boxes of Octane Plus coming on two years old!
