Be VERY careful, there are two different products there.
You can have an engine flush which goes in the oil filler and is supposed to help clear the residue left when you drain the oil, you can also get a degreaser called engine cleaner and is designed to be used on the outside of the engine.
Dont put the cleaner type in your engine as it would'nt like it

Do not use engine flush with Impreza's. Just give it frequent, good quality oil changes. I use Mobil 1 15w50 engine oil in my MY99 UK Turbo.

DO NOT EVER put engine flush of any sort in an Impreza engine. No matter who tells you it is a good idea or the claims the manufacturer of the products makes.

If you want to flush it at all, use 1 litre of auto transmission fluid in with your current sumpful. Drain off a bit to find room for it. Drive 200 - 250 miles change the lot and the filter for a top quality synthetic oil of 10/40 or 15/40 or 10/50 or 15/50.

Nothing lower than the 10 and nothing higher than the 50.

Good luck David APi

Flush in various guises cannot on its own, break an engine, but it will finish off an ailing one.

When I rang round for prices on 10k service for the WRX it seems most of the subaru main dealers include an engine flush (probably so they can hike the price up further). It's worrying to think that they are recommending something that is so detremental and could possibily cause long term damage. What does it actually do to the engine? I bet a lot of scooby owners are getting an engine flush as a part of the routine main dealer servicing??
