Andy Forest blew a head gasket and had to retire on the 3rd qualifier, it was strange that when I was chatting to him after his first run this morining he said he might use his nitrous on the 3rd qualifying run and will probably blow it up, dunno if he did use the gas but certainly blew it up.
It was amazing to watch though and others have said it looked like he was going through a puddle

was a great day out, some realy good runs, but quite a few failures as well.
I do feel the top cars are getting more and more removed from "normal" street cars, which although they are great to watch, sort of makes it less special to me in some strange way. Is it just me?

Firstly well done to Tim Webster for breaking into the eight's. Robin the Duke racing R33 runs a HKS air shifter transmission setup, its not an auto but the gears are changed by pressing a button on the steering wheel. Very sorry to see so many breakages today, I spent yesterday replacing the rear diff on the Jun Lemon only for the transmission to stick in fifth during the first run today

Yup, Tims car was running really well today, the record couldn't have gone to a nicer bloke. He had the Duke team over from Japan to set the car up, that was part of the purchase deal apparently.
My car ran a 9.3 and 9.5 @157 mph in the first two qualifiers without the nitrous, lying 2nd overall, I stuck the gas on for qualifier 3 (borrowed from mark) and as soon as I hit 4th gear it was just too much for it, the head gaskets let go, overpressurised the cooling system and blew a rad hose off, I crossed the line having a shower and running on 1 cylinder ! Still done another 9.3 though
It recorded 127mph at the 1/8th mile on that run which was quite promising
I think however I've found the power limit for the Laminated steel gasket/14mm stud set up.

Well done to all the scooby guys- i was gutted for Andy, we were all so sure the 8 was there to be had. Zen was amazing too- sooooo much aggression in these cars there really is!
The Tim Webster liner was an astounding piece of kit, and you really have to give it to him, he pulled out that 8.8 right at the end of the day on his final run- amazing to watch.
Well done to everyone who went up there, lined up on that grid and gave it hell. It takes guts to do it, and its that which i respect the most.
Cheers,
Ben.
