It depends on what year you car is, as I believe the later ones 'learn' to adjust to the higher octane fuel quicker .

cheers dave - i have a printout of this but never saw it - theres a garage local to me called pro-tec performance who do a static tune so will book it in the next week and switch over to super.
they said a rolling road tune is harmful to the drive train - is this true?? how else would you get power figures etc

Unless the car is running badly there is no point doing a "tune" after switching AFAK

Is the car modded ?
If not, again, I personally wouldnt bother with one - just let the car idle for a while if you have really been giving it stick.
At the end of the day Subaru didnt see the need for one as std .

As above, you don't need a TT. Warm the car before booting it (5 minutes on drive and/or first 10-15 minutes driving mostly under boost). Cool it after any spirited running by driving the last 5 miles or so under boost and leave at idle for another minute or two when you pull up.
