New scooby owner (soon) question?
Hey guys and girls,
I`m soon to be a proud owner of a scooby, i`m really looking forward to buying one but im a bit confused as to all the different versions etc.
Basically, ive been sure all along I either want an sti import or a wrx. Hoepfully a facelift model. But now ive seen a really nice prodrive uk car, facelift, in that in that sexy p1 blue colour (cant remember what the name is).
Basically, is there a major difference between the UK cars and the WRX/Sti imports? I`m thinking of putting a full de-cat system on the car and also a front mounted intercooler, but what about the turbo and actual engine internals? are they different? As there seems to be a big difference in standard BHP between the UK and import cars.
Cheers for any advice/help

the sti has a different turbo ( i think its a VF35 on the STi and a TD04 on the UK turbo 2000) and the ECUs on both the jap STi and WRX are mapped to 100 RON fuel in japan and so will make higher power on that fuel, hence the need to for octane booster in UK unless you get car remapped for 98 RON petrol ( else you run risk of detonation if u run normal unleaded on an import)
other than that im not sure of any engine internals being different

well i have read somewhere recently that the standard cast internals on the uk block is good for in the region of 350 bhp ( which would make a nice daily driver! lol)

The MY99/00 Sti's don't have a VF35, they're on a VF 28 I believe! The UK turbo does indeed run the Td04......except mine, which does have a VF35 (and several other mods) which results in:

Plenty fast enough!!

Ah thats probably reddish blue rather than sonic blue as the only uk car in 98 to get that was the 22b
It should have a full leather recaro interior if your going on about a Prodrive version rather than just a ppp'd car? with aircon, ppp, suspension etc.

sti's had uprated forged pistons, where as uk cars had standard cast pistons by the way.
