Help needed! What should I do?
Due to a recent house move I now face a 140 mile a day commute - all on motorways! I am currently on my fifth scoob - a MY2003 JDM STi with EcuTek remap and making around 350bhp. Here's the problem - I am not enjoying the car for this commute (let's face it - this car is a B-road lethal weapon - on motorways I end up with White Finger Syndrome!) and secondly I am sticking £200 of super in it every week.
However, I really don't face driving anything other than another scoob.
What would you do - here are some options I have thought of;
1) Sell STi - buy cheap and cheerful diesel and bank the surplus for a rainy day
2) Swap/Part-ex STi for boggo UK WRX station wagon - not quick but more economical and still a scoob - sort of
3) Swap for a classy german diesel cruiser
Thoughts and fresj idea please - I am gaoing bonkers!

Give up your job, go on the dole, keep the car, get the wife pregnant, get more benefits, laze in bed all day long, smoke cheap **** from abroad, jobs a good 'un !
That way you'll be a real Scooby owner !!!!!

2) Definately not- that run will cost loads in ANY sccoby; none of them are economical and you'll just be trading down a league in performance for not much gain in MPG. You'll be miserable again!
3) Nein!!
Diesels aren't all they're cracked up to be in the fun stakes! Everyone will hate you and not let you out of side turnings, therefore, you'll be late home everyday and miserable!
Your only option is to Buy an old banger, use it for the commutes and save the Scooby for the weekends!

or just buy something like this

Dirt cheap to run, 45+mpg, even if the head gasket goes its only 400 quid for a new one, will save you around 300 quid per month so it pays for itself in 4 months

The girlfriend and I have a p-plate clio for sitting in the traffic during weekdays. It only costs £300 pa to insure and £100 pa to service. £30 per tank and I got 400 miles out of it last week!
And, your insurers may give you a rebate for doing less miles.......
yeah right!
buy a shed from the auction for a grand ie diesel something.
put scooby in bed and only get her out at weekends.
you will feel much better in 3 months cos you have some money and a fantastic toy to play with!

i looked into a gas conversion about 4 years ago, did'nt do turbo cars then.
no reason why it can't be done??? have a look around (rumour has it that someone had a scoob done) i did notice a slight power increase on your car
i think i remember that LPG has quite a high octane value so should'nt be a problem.
have a look here i ran through an sti ppp car £1,750 + vat http://www.greenfuel.org.uk/
more info
LPG octane rating is between 106 and 110
some insurance companies are offering upto 7.5% reduction
25k miles a year and its paid for in the first year
