Default Oil Consumption

The car is a 03 Reg WRX which was purchased from a dealer with about 24k on the clock about 8 months ago the car has now done approximatly 31k driven sensibly. The problem now is the oil consumption is terrible the car does about 1000miles to 5 L of oil !!!!!

There are no leaks on the engine

The car does smoke (Blue) when being left over night but not noticably on the road.

The Scooby warranty ran out in March

The dealer is saying that because the service 30k was 1k over due the warranty would be void and it would be down to good will

This has clearly left a big problem as we have no idea where the oil is going and what to do about it

help please has anybody had this before and what are the possible causes

When the car was purchased we were told of the excelent customer service from dealers which we have yet to see.

We have been told that they would need to strip down the engine at our cost which we would not get back and if the fault was deemed to be not covered we would be presented with the car in bits or have to pay to have it rebuilt.

Please please help

If you are using a litre of oil every 200 miles theres something very wrong!

Could be a badly scored bore in one of the cylinders or a broken piston ring or something like that.

Im surprised you dont get a fair bit of blue smoke out the exhaust, have you tried getting a mate to follow?

Does the engine run a bit badly?

Default OH DEAR,

Sounds like you are Fcuked!, run it until it blows up then pay a garage to put in an engine from a write off......... there will be loads on engines about and it will cheaper than any dealer sorting out your engine!

The car runs ok seems to have power however can not comment as when you driver a car regurally you get acustomed to its performance. It does however smoke when you start it when its been parked and the engine has cooled.

We are in alot of trouble how much do you think a replacement engine out of a right off will cost the car owns me £12K purchase price and i can see a big bill looming which i can't afford.

Any help would be a help

Blue smoke suggests a turbo problem,

is the smoke in the morning whiteish, if so im afraid its poss your head gasket, get it checked ASAP, or ring API(David) for advice.. only more

damage if you continue driving. Hope this helps
