Been getting a whiff of hot coolant last few days when car is hot and idling. Level has dropped a tiny bit. Checked the coolant tank to right of radiator and noticed a bubble every second or so.....Blobeye WRX PPP....under warranty fortunately. What do you reckon ? Head gasket? If so how long to fix at main dealer and do they use new cambelt?

You can get bubbles in the coolant normally.. If you have a HG leak it should bubble like crazy when you rev the engine..

Symptoms are pointing to head related problems, either head gasket or head itself. Day job possibly a couple and they will not use a new cambelt unless you specify and supply.

Wouldn't have tought it a head gasket if you can smell anti freeze, have a look for a wet patch on your rad, or a leaking coolant pipe

Thanks for the replies. Took it in to dealers without notice. They looked at it and its the water pump. Got a Legacy while they wait for a water pump.
