Cheers all,
Just got hold of a prodrive sports down pipe and will be getting Afterburner cat pipe and centre section soon along with uprated fuel pump and filter. Already have a vortex back box.
Then save up for the re-map at Powerstation.
Hope this lot should get me to 280bhp.
Do STI tmic and turbos come up often on here and how much ££

Should be possible with 280 BHP, although you'd have to have almost no fuel, and no passengers. Performance Car tested an empty tanked, single occupant standard 97MY, at Santa Pod and it did it in 5.02 seconds or something like that. It was reg no. P116 EVP or thereabouts IIRC, in red, it appeared in various magazines around 1996/7 as the test car and I've driven that same car round Millbrook.

Some interesting figures in this thread. Anyone know what the exact 0-60 time of a MY98 JDM STi running about 310bhp would be?
I was guessing around 4.6 but looking at some of the stats above maybe a tiny bit quicker?
Cheers!

Prodrive did indeed quote 4.6 for the STi PPP. The Prodrive figures are about the best that would ever be repeatably acheived with lowish fuel load, very hard driving etc and most people would be a few tenths slower on a good run. It is true that a few mags did get some pretty remarkable times for fairly standard classic UK turbos. Spirit - on a perfect launch, ideal gear changes etc probably around 4.5 or maybe 4.4 might be on the cards, but in "normal" circumstances you ought to be able to get under 5 repeatably.

LOL l'd be adding about a second to any best times acheived by magazines, the technique used for getting the best out of awd cars is:
-Eject any passengers (and possibly go with half a tank of fuel ;-) )
-Wind the car up to maximum revs
-Dump the clutch
-Keep the throttle pinned and stamp on the clutch and just dump it again to engage the next gear
-Possibly call the AA when the gearbox explodes!! :-) I know that Autocar were left stranded late one eve at Bruntingthorpe after killing an EVO's transmission this way!

If you have an issue with my comment that "most people would be a bit slower on a good run" than the prodrive figures of 4.8 (WRX PPP) and 4.6 (WRX PPP), please point me at any properly controlled test (i.e. not hearsay/ measured off the speedo with a stopwatch) where those figures have been beaten.
If you have an issue with my suggestion that 1470kg is heavy, then you need educating in what makes a real sports car!
