Default CEL light fix after de cat?

Hi all, just bought a de cat pipe, the one after the downpipe on a newage. I have been told the CEL light will now stay on. How do i go about rectifying this, is it a resistor i change or something else etc?

Thanks for any advice in advance

Something called a "cellfix" is what you need mate, around £25 fitted from memory

Not sure where your local Subaru specialist is mate,

It replaces the ***** probe that goes in the pipe, so the ECU does not detect a problem.

***** = cant spell it aint gonna try

You should read this thread.

The guy who posted it was a genius, of course but it's a simple enough fix and should work for anyone

That sounds promising then! cheers Phill.

What difference have you noticed at all with it removed?

Do we only have the 2 cats also on the 05wrx? i have had many different sugestions about this!

Sorry to hijack, but if I understand this correctly, even though the decat I have has a thread for the lambda sensor to be fitted in, I will get a CEL and fault code when I replace the cat (3rd cat on a WRX) with a decat?

Here is a reply I received yesterday from Hayward & Scott as I ordered the decat and centre pipe from them for my WRX03.

Your cel light will only come on if you remove the down pipe with 100 cell
cat in. By removing the 2nd one this will not bring the light on.

Sounds good, I'll let you know what happens when I fit the decat, but that's put my mind at rest

Prodrive get around the CEL by having the boss for the 2nd Lambda about 1 inch longer on the 3rd decat section.
I believe it gets the Lambda out of the increased exhaust gas flow to stop the heater being cooled too much (after fitting the Prodrive 100 cell sports cat) and throwing the CEL.
These CEL fixes can be bought separately or even made by a friendly lathe owner. All they are is an extended boss with a female and male thread at each end. The electronic fixes don't always work and are a pain to fit.

ive changed the backbox and centre section on mine as well and yeah the car picks up alot better, theres 2 cats on the newage wrx one on the downpipe and there is the 2nd cat after it. i wanted to change the downpipe too but looks too much hassle to do it.
