Petrol/oil tanker rear lights?

Why are they so bright now? I thought running lights were 5W?

The modern LED ones are so bright it looks like they are braking all the time?

it's emergency service blues that bother my eyes, ridiculously intense these days in uk

Its the LED brakes light on the Enviro buses that get me...so bright you can't see the indicators....
