Missing 5 BHP

Missing 5 BHP
Had my STI8 with PPP on the rollers yesterday, and returned a figure of 295 bhp. Although this is apparently within the tolerances for this model with PPP I'm a bit disappointed it didn't return the quoted 301 bhp, and as i'm sure you will all appreciate won't be able to rest until i hit the magic figure!
Therefore, any suggestions on how to get back my 6 missing horses. not looking for major mods. would something like a TSL GREEN Group N Performance panel Filter give me a few bhp. read somewhere on here that it quotes a 4bhp increase on the box! is this true, any MAF issues as a result etc?
cheers in advance

I'm quite sure that 6hp is not worth bothering about, add to that the fact that whatever you change will/could result in one lost warranty, and it becomes even less worth worrying about.
But if it were to go on another set of rollers, on a colder day... i have no doubt it would have achieved it's target figure.....

If I were you I'd be happy, lots of people with PPP don't get near those numbers

personally i would be happy with those results.
as others have said, a different day would give different figures, and dont forget that all r/roads give different outputs.
im sure prodrive would have tested the initial ppp in ideal conditions anyway.

I often fine cars will make another 15hp when properly up to temperature compared to being run from "cold" on the rollers.
You could make more real power on another day with a further mod, and end up with less power if the car was run on the rollers in a slightly different way.
Personally, I think you are wasting yours and everyone elses time.

ive heard that if you use unleaded as apose to optimax it de-tunes your engine but youy can get a dealer to reset your ppp if you want your sixbhp back

thanks for the replies guys, will be driving with the lights on and cigarette lighter removed from now on.
seriously though i just want to make sure that I have done everything possible to ensure its running as well as possible. mainly use Tesco 99, with the odd Optimax thrown in for its cleaning properties. Once or twice have had to use BP Ultimate 97 when no alternative was available . could the switch from 99 to 97 for example account for a few lost bhp?

My car was remapped at Power Engineering and I came away with a graph showing 269hp.
Went to Powerstation and it recorded 249 - not amused doesn't quite fit!

I have to agree with everybody else on here and say that 6hp is a piffling amount to be worried about...Most PPP'd Sti's I see on our rollers are around the 270- 290 mark but all show good improvements in torque due to the increased boost at low revs...(Give em torque they'll think they have horsepower)..

Its a machines calculated best guess. Or are you guaranteeing that yours will be 100% accurate?
