Default using too much fuel!!? why??

Its only a 1.8 and its doin 23mpg. Its a 1995 and the clutch is slipping. The last service was about 12 months ago. I thought it was ok on fuel at first but didnt realise it was only doin 23 mpg!

Any ideas??

You have worked it out using imperial gallons rather than US, right?

I would expect very high 20s to low 30s generally or up to 36 on a m'way run. Lamda sensor might be tired? Is it running ok? No check engine light? Slipping clutch will be wasting a bit of energy but not that much I'd have thought.

You'll get a better response on imprezasport.net frankly mate, friendlier crowd over there

got 32 day in day no matter what I did with my 1.8. Lambda sensor did show signs of playing up, had to make sure that it was well warmed up before an MOT, but didn't seem to affect performance at all
