Default What were the STi/Forester lap time on 5th Gear?

Watched the Focus ST and Astra VXR lapping Ty Croes last night and they got 55-56s. It was drier with just visible damp patches rather than the rain last week, and of course, Tiff was driving instead of that silly squealing handbrake yanking stumpy munter. I seem to recall the 2 Scooby's lapping in 59's. If my recollections are correct then does it mean the 2 hatches are pretty quick, the Scoobs were slow, or the driver makes a huge difference. I think it's probably primarily the driver, and then the conditions, although the Ford and Vauxhaul look very competent machines. On Top Gear the Focus got a 1:34.9 to the STi's 1:30.1, so I think the answer's there.

Yep, 59, but the track was very wet, whereas it was 90% dry for the ST and VXR.

Stands to reason then. Blyton Park is about the same length as Ty Croes and I know wet adds 4s there.

Nice cars but you could still see the front wheel drive traits, torque steer and understeer, were very much amplified compared to the Scoobs

What you expect from 5th Gear TBH Somehow TG manage to be silly and yet make it funny and entertaining, 5G always fall flat on their faces whenever they try anything beyond factual.

With 2 hands on the wheel he probably could have ragged the VXR harder and thus beat his 'favourite of the 2' ST by much more....

I think that's true. I don't mind 5th Gear, but TG has an added element of humour. The wifey even laughs along and enjoys watching TG. So something has changed...

So do they put these figures up on their new fangled, computerised.. 'Power Lap board'..?

If so, the one arm thing really is a **** take. That and the fact that VBH (the one that either sounds like she smokes 100 **** a day and reminds me of Marge Simpson's sister Velma or squeals like she just sat on something too big..!) drives some of the laps..!

At least TG try to claim fairness with the Stig(s).

Finally, how can a commercial channel claim to give an unbiased view point, especially given that the winning car is given away and quite likely 'donated' to them by the manufacturer..?
