Default Reliability

Ok I have to know how good is the Scoob when it comes to breaking are we talking its rare or is it they full apart like a Ford will rust away
I know if you have one and look after it then it will go for ever that is if you fix any problems that you have come up on MOT and services
But how reliable is a Scoob going to be say next to a 306 GTi-6 or a Honda Civic Type R even to an Evo V5

Hi,

They're generally very reliable if they're looked after properly. They do not tolerate abuse, neglect or poorly researched modifications though. They are expensive to run and insure and, in the current climate, depreciate quite badly. You need to be aware of this before you buy one.

It's the classic: 'You play, you pay' scenario. However, if you look after it, at least you won't be forking out for fixing it!

Hondas are good solid cars - french cars aren't!!!

EVO's - should be solid too .... but hard to live with.

Subaru's are rock solid, reliable, pieces of engineering - they only go wrong if they are messed about with ..... and thats the truth!!

So I know I can pick up a nice Scoob for a good price at the moment if I can I would like a classic model on about a W reg but it has to have air con then its should I buy an import or a UK car
The other thing I would like to know is what is the road TAX class on the car or is the model that Im looking too old to have a fuel emition cat for the Road TAX

Mine is a 'W' Reg. and the Tax is £175.

I wouldn't worry about AirCon or not ...... don't make that your driving force, CONDITION is the number 1 item on the list!

UK or Import? Well, each to their own, I cannot see why buy an Import as the prices of UK cars are so cheap? Maybe you want slightly more power? But they have their downsides.

A 1 owner, UK car, with OR without AirCon., sensible mileage and Full History old MOTs and all bills should be the one you seek IMO

Oh, yes, worth repeating as it is often said on here, "Do NOT buy a cheap one!"

No worries on that one have learnt my lesson on buying cheap cars and dont do it any more and I have no problem in paying a bit more for a car with FSH and low millage as well as the year I wont
As for air con sorry its a big factor when you have kids on those hot days it really helps and cos i have had it in my last 2 cars I cant be without it now it would be like not having central locking or electric windows its just not done any more Im afraid lmao

AirCon. yes - nice to have, I have had it before on numerous cars.

I honestly think that I can count on one hand the times each year where I wish I had it on the Scooby - all I meant to say was, don't lose a cracker just because of no AirCon. on a 'W' Reg. it was a £1000 option!
