Default New 2.5L WRX

I have just traded in my 01 Bugeye 2.0L WRX for against a new 06 Plate 2.5L WRX today. I pick it up tomorrow.

I need to buy a Thatcham Cat 1 Alarm and Immobiliser and have it fitted. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good value system and someone who will install it?

An idea of the cost would be pretty helpful.

I'm in the same situation, the place I'm buying the car from will fit a Laserline for £300 but I've heard that they aren't the best.

This place looks OK and they were helpful on the phone, only thing was there was a 3 week waiting period.

I would imagine that you are going to find difficulties insuring a Scooby these days - especially a new model without a cat 1 approved alarm !
I would go with a clifford model but make sure you get it fitted by an good reccommend fitter. Ask in the security section - people will advise on who is good in your area

Yes I read about this awhile ago but without cat 1 approval I can't see many insurers touching it.

06 WRX 2.5ltrs all come with a CAT1 as standard!!!!

The only thing they don't come with is a tracker. The STi does though.

Toad i606 is about £100 off ebay, then get an approved installer to fit it. This guy http://www.alansmith.co.uk/products.htm did mine for about £120.

The car is an import but to UK spec. I want to have it insured hence the need for a Cat 1 Alarm system. I intend to have it fitted ASAP.

The SSI Clifford concept Alarm is looking good to me!

The car is built to UK spec (e.g. MPH speedo, unleaded fuel nozzle etc) but things like the alarm and locking wheel nuts are fitted once they get to the UK.
