Default Sorry - another Sti / Sti ppp question (last one I promise !!).

Hi,

Still need convincing about whether to buy the Sti or Sti with ppp.

Do you actually feel the difference acceleration / torque wise with the ppp fitted compared to the standard Sti ??

Is there a better "grin factor" with the Sti ppp compared to the standard Sti ??

Is the standard Sti acceleration enough ??

Not too bothered about handling, as I feel the Sti is good enough for my (lack of) skill level.

Are the Sti ppp reliable if you treat them with respect. By that I mean if you drive them normally most of the time (town, etc) and give them the occasional thrash round the twisties. Or are they prone to broken engines, gearbox's, clutch's, etc.

Sorry to be a pest, but the great info I got from the guys / gals on here helped me pick my last Scooby and that was a good one. I don't want to end up buying a ppp when an Sti is enough.

Thanks for your help,
Graeme.

ppp makes the car what it should be. Standard Sti is good but not even clsoe to what you get with ppp.

I PPP'd my sti

go to a scooby meet with bit of luck there will be both types there and you can get a comparison

How much extra is the PPP. Aftermarket exhaust, Filter + remap can be had for say 1-1.5k. Mapped properly the difference is amazing.

I faced the same dillema about a month ago.
Drove an sti and thought it was great, drove a sti ppp and thought it was much better, it goes much earlier in the rev range and pulls a lot harder, then i test drove a TSL333 and there was no question, bought the TSL333

I had my STi PPP re-mapped by TSL (retaining the Prodrive exhaust) and it really is so much better. The PPP map is a pretty mild tweek, most of the extra power comes from the more efficient exhaust system. With a bespoke map the car moves on another step.
If you get a std. STi then say, a TSL 333, you'll get much more for a similar outlay. In retrospect, I wished that is what I had done originally.

Just the advice I needed, I was hoping you would sway me towards the ppp or 333.

I think I'm sold, just a case of right car, right mileage, right price.

Cheers,
Thanks for your help,
Graeme.

I have a MY05 STI ppp, I test drove a normal STI at the dealers I bought my car at, I can tell you now always get it PPPed, the car is a different beast with it.

I havn't had the pleasure of TSL333 but I will once my warranty has run its course, as has been said on many threads if warranty isnt an issue for you get the tsl333 its the better of the 2, if it is an issue i.e you want a valid warranty get PPP.

The one certainty is never have a bog standard new age STI without either.

Warranty isnt too much of an issue for me even with the 333, both myslef and the previous owner have had warranty work done and they havent even said a word
Id expect problems if it was an engine related issue though...
