CHANNEL 4 AT 7pm NEW ADVERT
#4
I agree with Neil.
The worst add I have ever seen on TV . (Well at least since the previous Subaru Legacy ad offering shown during Driven.)
I thought a big part of the new car was a more sophisticated audience; they will need to do better on the advertising!!
Shame really as the Scooby package - car and marketing wise, historically has been pretty tasteful e.g Prodrive, subtle use of rally images etc.
Car still looks awkward, although colour was nice.
Testing a P1 tomorrow.

I thought it was pretty naf aswell. What's the point of using Richard Burns in your adverts if all he is going to do is calmly drive round a few traffic cones??
The advert was pretty basic and the car looked better than in a lot of the photographs I've seen. Very similar side profile to the current the car (apart from THOSE lights) but still not enough to make me trade in my current MY00.
Think I'll save up for the Aston Martin that was on 'Driven'
Or maybe the new Clio V6 - a real hooligan car !

Have Subaru lost the plot??
Make a car look good and it sells .. surely it cannot be as simple as that (yet:- yes it is, Subaru!!!!)
Who told them it looks good????
Can only make the last of the 'old shape' more desirable??? good!!

Yep I too thought it was crap. That Steve Berry bloke is a bike fanatic. Why the hell was he given the job to sell the Scoob.
Richard Burns should have done us all a favour and chucked him out!

Pretty naff advert.
I would have thought that they would have had better coverage to the appropriate market if they had placed it during Driven and not during the Channel 4 news.
I guess the advert placing and content are in tune with the looks of the car.

Noticed "Burnsy" didn't have a right lot to say, did he?
He was driving slowly cos his navigator kept shouting "lean with the bike!".
Did you notice they are doing a 1.6 version called the Sport RWX or something or other. Eek, they are trying to go mainstream and appeal to the mpg botherers!

In our region the add was not on during Driven, but I did see it during the following program ("Why doctors make mistakes" - or something).
I agree with the commnets here. A completely missed opportunity. For those you did not see it, in breif...
It was all done like an artictile for Top Gear. It had Steve Berry (the motobike guy from Top Gear) arriving at a secret test track. He parked his 4X4 and started talking about the heratige of Subaru in Rallying, then something about Genetinc Engenieering being done for the new Impreza. Then when to take a test drive to find Mr Burns in the driving seat. The then went trundelling around a tame test track. Weveing through a few cones, and that's about it...
A completly missed opportunity to show the car for what (I assume) it is. A great handling, powerful, safe car. Instead, end up with no clear idea what the car is all about.
Oh, I did like the colour though....

The Renault Sport may look the dogs, however it is 30bhp short AND 300kg heavier than planned.
So it only has about 6bhp per tonne more than the Sport 172 - maybe that's why it has no back seats to make sure it can't be made to go any slower!
MY01 - looks more tempting as I need to get another company car and a P1 is £727 pcm and an Evo VI is £767pcm - new Scoob about £450pcm
Can't be all bad

It can't have been as bad as the dire presentation Subaru UK gave at the official launch at the Motor Show yesterday.
Richard Keys, the footy presenter introduced some Japanese top geezer from Subaru whose English may have been a dman sight better than my Japanese, but not by bloody much!
This chap droned on for 1/4 hour!
Wakarimas Suabru-San !
