How to get a Haynes manual !!
#1
As most of you know there is no Haynes manual for an impreza. I think it would be a good idea for scoobynet users to contact Haynes and ask if they will produce a manual for the impreza. If they see a big demand they might produce one. Hell there are doing one for the new beetle.
What does anyone else think..

What I did see in my local Halfords (that has just had the refit/facelift), was that they are now stocking the very good Chilton's series of manuals. These are American but are much better detailed than the current Haynes stuff.
And, wait for it, I saw a manual for Subaru's. OK, I think it was up to 1997, but it did have the Impreza Turbo in there. But there again, I also think it had the Justy too :-) Worth a look as did have some electrical diagrams etc.
Cheers

A Haynes manual for an Impreza! I can look forward to the situation when the car is half dismantled, and step 23 says "Use the specialist tool only found at Subaru dealers to undo the widget before continuing".

Is it likely that Haynes are going to produce a manual for a car which is now (essentially) out of production? I would tend to doubt it. Unless somebody wants to donate their Impreza for dismantling (I DON'T volunteer)

Haynes only usually produce manuals for cars over 3 years old (after the warrenty usually runs out). So hopefully it won't matter if the current model will soon be out of date.
I too went into Halfords to find a manual. Now I know why I couldnt find one.

I am glad there is such a response for a manual. I am not really sure what is the best way to do this, either email individually or as a group.
Also could the SIDC not write to haynes
tell them how many members they have and try and talk haynes into producing a manual (any committee members care to comment).
Or Scoobynet could open up a petition in the main page where people can leave there name and say they want a haynes manual, then when we have enough names email Haynes the address and let them see the petition.
Basically we should keep on at Haynes and show there is a big demand for it and hopefully they will produce one..
What way does everyone think is the best way we should do this?

Not sure, I think if the SIDC can help it would make it alot easier, it would show that the impreza has a huge following( like they need telling )
Haynes might already be on the case as we speak.

Try searching the BBS for 'Haynes', you will find that we have tried this before. Haynes told me that they were not planning to produce one this year.
But no harm trying again - good luck!

Hi wrx.co.uk,
I did a search on the bbs for Haynes but I couldn't see the link where people where asked to email/contact Haynes to show them there is a demand for the manual. Could you post the link?
Thanks

I approached Haynes when I bought my Impreza last November and they said that they dont consider doing a manual till there are at least 50,000 cars of a particular model on the road.
I bought myself the Subaru workshop manual which is about 2" thick and cost £90 but is very detailed.
