Question Protecting paintwork from stonechips

Hi guys

Can someone recommend a proven way of protecting against stonechips, etc.?

I've seen an ad in EVO by Venture Shield. I've also come across Paint Shield.

Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with these or other products? Please let me know.

Many thanks in advance.

Andrei

I used to be a big fan of armourfend, had it on 3 cars. But, after time it can start to look worse than stone chips.

Fact is doesn't matter where you stick it, sods law will always flick a stone up somewhere else.

I had my entire M3 CSL covered in armourfend, and have since heard the new owner took the lot off.

Now I've given up, cars get chipped. If it's a huge problem just get a respray every spring, ready for the summer.

Armourfend UK has been sold back to the US IIRC so not really sure whats going on there.

best way to reduce stone chips is drive a little further back from the guy in front (or just make sure your in front of every one else on the road)

Doesnt help on the motor way when people are over-taking etc..

Those protective films always seem to discolour and bubble after a while.

Yep, got a call from Tom today, who spoke highly of his product

How much of the car did you cover and how much did it cost?

All these companies offer guarantees. Paint Shield give 4 years. Venture shield -- life time.

Not sure if there's a catch in small print though??

4 Year Paint protection warranty

bit unclear, does this mean that your paintwork is protected for 4 years against stone chips. Most of these companies use the 3m type film or similar, so if a stone does his a part of this protection depending on the size and severity of the object hitting the film, it will mark it to some degree whichever company makes and installs the film am I right??

Yep but it was a 2 hour round trip to keep going back to Armourfend getting everything redone. Was costing me so much in petrol a respray every winter would of been cheaper in the long run.
