For future reference, the battery is a weak point on new-age Scoobs, due mainly to the "smart" alternator that only charges when it detects a current draw. This means that all summer long when we hardly ever use the lights/demister etc the battery hardly ever gets any charge. Come winter we suddenly start to use many of the electrical appliances (heated rear screen, fan demister, lights) and the battery gets killed very quickly. I recommend leaving the sidelights on at all times (they go off with the ignition as the parking lights are on a separate switch) to fool the silly alternator into charging continuously.

yeah the battery went flat on my my03 sti but the local dealer relaced it under warranty the next day so no real drama and subaru assistance arrived in 20 minutes......although the guy was a bit startled when i gave him a big shove as he'd gently dropped the bonnet and was about to push it shut!

just a point to note, if you have an approved warranty the battery isnt covered.

the fan on any speed will draw current, as will your radio so why leave the side lights on?
