I can see why they are trying to sell you another head unit as the standard one lacks the outputs for anything other than speakers if I remember correctly.

The standard headunit IS crap, even if you just change the speakers you won't be getting the best out of them until you change the headunit aswell

From my experience with sound advice they are only interested if your spending £1500 plus,

I always go to Guardian, in Chadwell heath 0500 525620 they will sort you out.

Hi there

Definitely a worthless exercise adding bits to the standard unit since it is so cr*p. Mate of mine spent a fortune on amps and speakers in his Mitsubishi warrior but decided to keep the head unit because he thought 'hmm, all CD players are digital, all CD players must sound the same'. How wrong he was. Changed the head unit and, hey presto, incredible system. BTW you don't have to spend much on a head unit - circa £130 will give great sound e.g. my old Sony.

Plus changing to a single din, leaves another usefull din sized gap for other things

I use mine for bits of rubbish

You could always try browsing the ICE section . You never know there may be some more useful advice in there

The standard headunit in my Bugeye was absolute PANTS!! Took it out and replaced it with my trusty Alpine of 8 years old!! Made the standard speakers sound sooo much better.

Have now changed all the speakers, but still have my old Alpine and it sounds great.
All in all, cost around £250 (2 sets of Infinifty compnents) plus my headunit (£800 when new) Good headunits are about £200 for a decent make with a fair amount of bells and ***** to play with.

Get a headunit with at least two pre-outs (most have this) and you can upgrade to an amplifier or two at a later date if that floats ya boat.

Good luck
