Default Whats the score with Sainsburys unleaded??

Hi all just wondering what the general opionion of Sainsburys Super unleaded is? Tried doing the google .bbs.scoobynet search but it didnt turn up any Disccusions on it.
Apparently its BP's Ultimate Unleaded and I have only used this twice in Emergencies, no Optimax near by ect.

I have been using Tesscos 99 ron for the last few months and the sainburys Fuel is a bit cheaper in my area so just wondering if its worth making the switch?

Sainsburys is 97 ron.

It is fine in a UK car. I use it quite often (when I can't be bothered to drive to Tesco).

I use it all the time and it seems OK. There is no Tesco 99 Ron or Optimax anywhere near me so it is that or BP Ultimate which I dont rate.

I use Sainsbury's SUL (much modified RB5 btw) and have had no issues whatsoever.

I've tried just about every SUL going and cannot find a bad thing to say about the Sainsbury's variety. I'd be suprised if it's BP by another name as my car hates BP Ultimate - becomes completely gutless in comparison. In terms of feel Sainsbury's SUL is most similar to Esso SUL (my next preference).

Is there such a thing as tesco 99 ron.

I am sure when fueling up with Tesco Super Plus, when Optimax suddenly disappeared off the face of the Planet a couple of months ago, it only said 97 ron on the Tesco pumps. Am I missing something ??

Regards,
Graeme.

I noticed a performance loss using Sainsburys in MY05 STi PPP. Use either Tesco or Optimax now & feels much happier.

Sainsburys is fantastic stuff .... excellent price (especially when you can get another 5p off per litre!)

Have to agree with that.. only 84.9p (with voucher) per litre by me.. That's 12p a litre less than Optimax & Ultimate and it feels the same !

Tesco added 99Ron a couple of months ago, well atleast to all of their big stores. Should be able to get it at the smaller stores by now. Why can't we have Jap 100Ron, we're always behind in this country!!!

ps. 95ron and BP97ron = s**ty dishwater

Cheers guys,
Forgot to mention mines an Import.

I'll give this a try with my next fill up, not too sure if its gonna be benificial as I have 2 tescos with 99 ron on my to work and the sainsburys is in the opposite direction so by the time I've driven there will it really be worth it for a few pence on a tank?

I've used it once, the car usually gets Optimax or Tesco 99 if i can get it. I may have had a bad batch, but the car started to backfire dramatically on the motorway. The bangs were so loud I thought someone had crashed into me at first.

Ran MY00PPP on Optimax for first year then switched to Sainsbury SUL and noticed no difference bar my pocket

A BIG NO NO if car is import.......stick with Optimax+Booster unless remapped of course.

Not "all of their big stores". No Tesco "big store" in Scotland has 99 ron, although many have 97 ron. Inverness Tesco Extra only has 95 ron.

I used it in my MY02 WRX - much better fuel economy and there was more pickup.

Then used it in my porker 996 - have to say works a treat and cheap as chips.
