Default Can a larger Top Mount be fitted to a MY95

Can a larger Top Mount be fitted to an early classic with the slanty intercooler. All the larger ones Ive found for sale are the straight fitting ones with the dump valve on the front. Can these or the larger newer STI ones be fitted on to the old classic without any magor modification.

Cheers

I was just thinking a top mount would be less grief to fit and a bit cheaper. But if I cant get the later style top mount on without magor grief I think I will have to go for the front mount option.

It can be done mate. We fitted a later style straight intercooler to my mates MY93 WRX. We blanked off the dumpvalve outlet on the IC and used the original dumpvalve position. If you put the two IC's together you'll see the size difference. The slanty type is poo, get rid of soon as.

It is a bit of a pain but well worth it. Do a search it has been covered loads of times. I'm sure there's a pictorial step by step in here SOMEWHERE

I have been told the new age wrx ones are easier to fit and are still a good improvment.

And if your looking for one cheap

Or you can just buy an aftermarket tmic for the early model. I am runing an AvoTurbo tmic sourced by J W Racing:

It wasn't cheap at £500. I spoke to Jaime on the phone and he sourced it for me. He didn't have any tmic's on his website at the time. TBH, you may be better off getting a hybrid front mount from Harvey or flat4online.co.uk (which seems to be down at the moment). Don't get me wrong, the AvoTurbo TMIC works wonderfully and fits perfect but it is a little pricey. The huge amount of extra frontal area of the hybrid fmic is hard to resist at approx £450. It is just the extra work needed to fit it that may put you off.
