Question TOTB - Tour of Arabia

Does anyone know anything about this tour, and who is coming? The dates are 19th and 20th January, and the flier shows a blue Type-R.

The event is held at Um Al Quwain (the only 'proper' drag strip in the UAE)

The main reason I am asking is that anyone who can do Ecutek is coming it could be good for me!

Thanks

Neil

Replying to my own thread (a worry I know...)
Quote from http://www.totb.co.uk/home/
Invited champion cars from past TOTB events in Europe will attend, throwing down the gauntlet to the fastest cars in the Middle East and from around the world

Any Subarus?

Well to continue my own conversation...

The event is sponsored and supported by Sheikh Marwan of Umm Al Quwain, who is a confirmed petrol head. He built the drag stip for his own personal use (christmas tree, floodlights and grandstands included!), and kindly lets other people play on it. The small matter of shipping some cars and bodies over here would not place a dent in his petty cash.

Apparantly he has a Skyboat pushing 1200bhp ready for the challenge. There are 4 other Skylarks in UAQ pushing something similar (and remember - we dont have pubs here!)

The regulations currently state 'no slick tyres allowed' so allowing the UK vs UAE tyre difference to be avoided, although I wouldn't be sure that the tyres are different.

The 'local' cars are supposed to be road legal, although this can be a very loose interpretation! Cars imported for the event would probably have to be road legal in their 'normal' country.

event details now on the totb site, we are taking 4 cars over for the first ever event, logistics etc and cost dictated a smaller uk entry for the first running, our intention for 2007 onward is to be able to take across 10 cars to represent the best of the TOTB competitor field. Coverage of the event to follow in UK mags and on the website. www.totb.co.uk
