Anyone put STI/WR1 engine in a wagon?
Just curious....
Has any one got the money and the time to do this properly...
I always wanted a wagon for the extra practicality as a works car. I was annoyed when looking around that they didnt do a wagon STI.
So has anyone or any company had the money and time to take the engine from an STI, S202, WR1 and drop it into the wagon?
I am assuming to replace the WRX lump with an STI lump shouldnt be to much trouble? Then just replace the bonnet scoop with the slightly bigger STI scoob and you got a serious monster of a wagon.
Infact if some one had the time to spray one the WR1 blue, put the WR1 engine in it, and add the WR1 wheels that would be one SERIOUSLY sexy estate wagon.

Subaru did make a new age wagon Sti but I think they stopped making it soon after it came out? There is one on this board somewhere.

Subaru made an STI JDM 'Wagon for two model years (from Octoberber '00); but they dropped it due to lack of interest and poor sales. Cars that are already here seem to be very over-priced by owners, due to their perceived 'rarity'. If youre interested then importing one from Japan is quite possible. I was looking for one for myself until I realised just how cheap a 250PS Forester was.....

Recently there was a MY01 STi wagon advertised for circa £17k
Think the owner has dropped it though, realising that they DO NOT command much of a premium over a saloon

I have researched this before replying.....; in my opinion STI 'Wagons are worth less than the equivalent Saloon, in line with other 'Wagon values. Theyre dearer new but they dont retain their value as well (unusually yhe STI 'Wagon was £1,000 cheaper than the STI Saloon on launch in October 2000).
STI 'Wagons are worth, on average, ¥200,000 (£1,000) less than STI Saloons of a similar age. GGBs average ¥1,500,000 and GDBs average ¥1,300,000 for an '01/'02 car.

I have an MY03 wagon but have bolted lots of STI bits to it: turbo, i/c injectors etc and it goes like a train. 309bhp / 311ftlbs and you can move a double matress in the back. What more does she want?
