Default Back box advice plz.

I didnt want to bother the chaps in the technical forum is i dont think my query is really that technical. What i really need is anyone with experience of either an afterburner vortex or Ninja back box ( or any similar you can recommend ). My car is a totally standard 03 WRX and as i say i only want to change the back box as i want the noise. My main worry is that it is unbearably load at motorway speeds. I expect it to be slightly louder but not annoyingly so. Basically i want to have my cake and eat it. It does need to be loud enough though in every other situation so i can enjoy the reason i bought my scoob. Finally i currently have a prodrive back box ( i know, so car not totally standard ) would i get decent noise if i just decatted it, not fully mind as i want to pass an MOT?? ( plus dont want extra cost of remap after decat if it needs it) Basically im looking for best way to get lush noise all the time but not deafen me on motorway. Any and all help much appreciated.

the Ninja should do fine then, get the rumble and when you floor it a growl that turns heads not to loud on cruises

i have a full Ninja decat system and the criterias you describe was what i was looking for

the vortex is nice but to loud IMO

Don't want to **** on your party ............... but check that your insurance will still cover you if you put another backbox on .. lots are NOT covering these mods!

I will check with them first. Hopefully only a slight increase in premium if any.
I thought the vortex was louder but its hard to tell from the sound files ive heard. Has anyone got a vortex fitted?????

Is it a PPP backbox or a WR Sport one?
I thought they were pretty burbly and I was thinking of buying one for my 03WRX in order to preserve the warranty.

Ninja BB is perfect for what your after !!

I have one on my MY05 WRX and I am more than happy with it, sounds fantastic when you press the loud pedal
and hardly noticable on the motorway.

If your insurance doesn't like it give A-Plan a try, really good with mods

Oh forgot to add, my local Subaru dealer was fine with the BB as long as I didn't alter any other part of the exhaust system

So no warranty issues

Cheers for that. Better check with my dealer first just to make sure though. Think it will be the Ninja by the sounds of it. Just got to make sure the bird gets the right one for my Christmas. If i leave it to her she will probably end up getting one from Kwik fit.

I changed my ppp back box for a vortex item and it does make a louder deeper burble, but I found at motorway speeds it wasn't intrusive (maybe I'm slightly deaf).

I am now changing to a blitz full system, which should be a bit louder I hope.
