Thanks for the pic, but somehow it's just not me.
No baseball cap, pufa jacket or Maxpower sticker in sight. Sorry guys think again.
And guess what, still say the Impreza's handling is overrated. Still waiting for someone to take up my track offer.

Thanks Cem,
Gone a bit red
Number 1 priority on track for me is safety; I stick to the rules religiously. I never pass under brakes, mid corner or until I know for sure the person in front has seen me.
I have been driving track days for 5 years now, not had one incident with another car and never damaged my car either. Melted shed loads of stuff though
Some people may say I can afford to drive that way as I don’t get held up, that’s irrelevant, I started out track day driving in my old bog standard 2 litre Manta GTE. Great handling car but bugger all power.
People like JasonM haven’t got a clue what disciplined high speed driving is all about, it isn’t what ability you have, its what mental approach you use that counts.
Cheers
John

John FELTCHSTEAD,
I have been off the BBS for some 2 weeks now (I now know why, when I read this crap!), and must admit with your comment JF.....JASONM is an obvious candidate for "Bellend of the Week" award.
As for mental approach ........here we go, John's getting in one again Yes John your are mental We all remember the way you "Prepared" for the go-kart racing!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shaun.
P.S. Harj and me have a surprise for you when we all go to Germany......something about letting the steam out of your dump valve

Well Jason, I have finally got around to turnin the Koni's up.
Turned all 4 onto hardest and went for a wee drive.
Result: a VERY firm ride, too firm for everyday use and was quite "tiring" after only 10 mins as I was getting sore head, neck etc etc.
BUT....
The handling is something else. I went on a road I travel almost every day and know, roughly, what I can and cant do with my car.
Usual understeer that I had with my old suspension (SPAX springs and standard OEM dampers) was gone and that aint the end of it.
Going round the corners, I thought I would see what would happen if I was turning a corner and snapped the steering slightly. Usually this would give me understeer but all the car wanted to do was TURN MORE !!!!! and that wasnt because of oversteer (havent EVER got that yet).
The car reamins flat, and tbh, driver confidence is so high (more so if you drive like this all the time) that if you got in a standard car of almost ANY sort, you would probably end up in a hedge.
I liked it... A LOT, but there's no way I could have it on hard all the time, or even halfway round. I am a fussy ******* and I like a bit of comfort so I think I will keep em on soft jus now.
If I ever get on somewhere like Knockhill, then its only a simple 2 and a bit turns on each to get it spot on for some serious handling =)
So there you go ppl, JasonM might have went on a bit, but he was right about the Cavalier and Koni setup.
I recommend anyone to get them if you looking to change your existing setup.... jus make sure you go for the CALIBRA kit so that you got 4 top adjustable and not jus the front. Its same chassis and virtually same car anyway.
Cheers

john,
i downloaded your in car footage from donno today from the 22b site. Your cars very impressive fro the 'drivers seat', it looks like youre just playing with everyone!!! I noticed that you kept having to slow down to let the engine cool down, why is this? Is it because of the small frontal area and so presumably small radiator in your westie? Have you still got the prob or is it sorted now? Last time i saw you was at santa pod for the Ultimate Street Car, did you run? If so what times did you get?

Hi mr saph
Nope, I was in rsquires 22B at the pod that day, had it on display.
I have run at the pod once and got a 12.5 time, which was pretty crap as I had wheel spin till 100MPH, its much quicker on a racetrack, the pod is unbelievably slippy I found.
I had 2 probs at donno that were made worse by how red hot it was. I had a blown head gasket, which was pissing water out the header tank. You are right about the rad size though, its way too small for 350BHP. I am having a one off rad made using the core from an F1 car over the winter to get the temps down to 83 degrees. I have improved things a little with better ducting, this is giving me about 15 miles of flat out running before the temps get too high, at donno I was only getting 2 fast laps at a time which was frustrating. Those 2 laps were fun though.
All I can say is thank god no cavaliers were on track, would have made a mockery of my 480BHP/Tonne no doubt.

John,
I spent many a time into the wee hours of the morning last night watching video footage of your car around donnington.
The westy is extremely fast, the speed you caught up with SDB is testament to that fact. I have to say, though, that it isn't the car that should take all the credit. You have great track discipline and skill, which combined with the car, makes for great viewing.
Nice stuff

Olly,
Luckily graphics are not allowed on the BBS so I'm afraid a drawing is not available. However, I am sure some of my more 'learned' friends on the BBS can help with some links to suitable, sorry un-suitable, web sites
Yex
PS: I go away for a week in the sun and threads like this develop...where do these people hide when it's time for school ????
