Subarus are dead long live audis
#1
Well Subaru owners ,never mind Ive got an S3 and its faster than all standard uk turbos! Granted the sti's are truely amazing machines and are in no way on par with with the normal uk turbos. Im talking Uk spec, there not that impressive are they! My cars got no probem in keeping up with or beating these rally icons. Ok the s3 costs more but comes with AC, eletric leather seats, 6 SPEED, to name but a few.

What are these idiots all about. Name says it all I guess.
Well, I should'nt have bothered, but here goes.
"I'm talking Uk spec, there not that impressive are they! My cars got no probem in keeping up with or beating these rally icons. "
No, it takes more than the practicallity of a £22,000 4 or 5 door car with 240bhp/1200kg, 0 -60 in 5 secs and 145 mph to impress me.
So I take it you have 'raced' many Imprezas, and on the public highway no-doubt? Needless to say you must also have been travelling at the limits of your cars handling and speed, nevermind your own capabilities, which in my mind makes you, and the Impreza drivers you were 'supposidly' humbling, dangerous fools.
This is not the forum for boosting your underdeveloped insecure ego. People prefer Subarus for many reasons.
Pehaps you should have lurked here a bit longer before opening your mouth and letting your belly rumble.
Why dont you have a nice lie down now and think about it for a while.

Lets get this right,When I say raced I mean raced! ON A TRACK!!!!!!!!!!!! Very critical, Surely im entiled to my own point of view!
Yes I have tried a whole range of subarus from the normal to the WRX Type r. I persume to know what im talking about. My own Brother has a subrau as well as various friends of mine , I consider myself to be in a very good postion to judge.

so you RACED on track did you?
You dont race on a track day, if thats what you refer to then you aint RACED at all.
You name the time and the place and i will be there allong with some of the track regulars on this BBS and we will see how fantastic you and your beasty happen to be.
So come on, i am up for it. Dont forget to chant "i am a tiger, I AM a tiger" before you jump in your car and start your RACING. LOL

OK, I'll bite ...
Time on the Nurburgring:
Std UK Impreza: 8:37
Audi S3 : 8:41
Time on Hockenheim
Std UK Impreza : 1.19,4
Audi S3 : 1.20,9
0 to 200 km/h to 0
Std UK Impreza : 34,9 secs
Audi S3 : 38,3 secs
Max G-Force
Std UK Impreza : 1,0 g
Audi S3 : 0,95 g
Upward lift at 200 km/h
Std UK Impreza : 11 kg
Audi S3 : 31 kg
Max speed in "avoidance" test:
Std UK Impreza: 131 km/h
Audi S3 : 123 km/h
Now of course, these numbers come from a very very suspect source, that would automatically favor the Impreza ... a German mag. And sure, the driver was crap probably ...
Goodbye, thank you, come again.
PS: like the previous poster said: I hope you came to this conclusion on a track ?
PS2: actually, this "my car is better than x" crap is so childish ... if you're a car enthousiast, driving an S3 is probably a very fun thing to do. So are about 50 other cars. Let's be real glad that we have the money to spend on these boy toys (meant in an extremely non-sexist way girls !), which means we covered our real basic needs.
PS3: the best, most informative test *ever* I read was in SportAuto from Germany, with Horst von Saurma (he holds a few Ring records) behind the steering wheel.
PS4: to put all into perspective: best Ring time until now for a "showroom" car was 7:56 (I think) with the new Porker Turbo

Ok guys I expected this in a subaru web site, How about this every production car differs (bad good batch etc)neadless to say, my car is not standard 336 bhp proven audi stems from the btcc, ok now it weights 1200kg um, bla, bla, bla, Place time date we shall see.......................

Well Mr Subaru eater Ive had an S3 as well. At the same time I owned a UK MY00. My S3 was quicker than a UK Turbo. I even took it on track at Donnington on a SIDC day.
So I'd agree with you, BUT mine had 265bhp with an MTM ECU. One thing you do note about the std S3 is how poor its performance is. You dont even need to look at magazine performance figures to sort out how much slower it is, you can feel it.
The S3 is a great car. Still miss mine and have S3 RGY still on retention in case I go back. Its one of only two other cars I'd consider. The others the new M3. Guess where my deposit is.
Go get it modified before your next post.

Oh sh*t ...
You know, 6 speed something, at a certain point in your life, you'll have to start making sense.
But you still have some time before you get to be 18, so you'll learn.
Theo
PS: read my post again. I mean READ IT ! Sure, Audi is gonna present a crappy S3 to SportAuto. They always do that in Germany.
PS2: before you spill your load on usenet or a BBS: start with knowing the players. I'm sure John F is known as a Subaru biggot around here ...
PS3: why do I even bother ?
Edited because I know I'm getting to sensitive about, err, some kind of people

Jonathan,
Keep us posted on the M3. When I was much younger, the original M3 was my "dream car", as was the Esprit. The new M3 is gonna be stunning IMHO.
All BS aside, the S3 is a really fine car, and still affordable <sp?> unlike the RS4.
Evil
(still hoping for the Mazda MPS to come to Europe)

Right, well your all hot and bothered and obvious seem to need to take the mick out of my age (23).......Let me tell you something interesting I also own an RB5 with the full prodrive kit..I think it handles better then any other subaru and doesnt look to bad either. And I DO HAVE an mtm chip in my S3 and when i got out of the s3 to the rb5 .The s3 is marginaly quicker except on corners where the rb5 is supreame you seem to think Im anti-subaru ,im not just that the standard subrau isnt all that!
By the way do you want to sell that plate?

6SSK - just bog off you hopeless moron. I came here to read about the petrol crisis and 'should kids be on this BBS' etc, not this rubbish about cars! A pox upon your Audi S3. Bah!

i have tried to be humourous dealing with this new user's nonsense.
That last posting is not on.
keep your postings in a mature manner please. You obviously dont know but there are people on here with cars that make yours look positively backwards in its performance, mine included.

Audi S3. LOL. Your having a laugh.
Don't come on here mouthing off mr 6-speed gearbox. This is not an argument forum and your posting title is negative, and also having a dig at the cars that we all work our bolx off to own, mod, and take care of.
As you are 23, I would suspect that you too must work very hard to 'own' and RB5 and an S3 which if thats correct says to me you missed the boat. As you could get the mother of all scoobs (and in my opinion-bar mclaren f1's e.t.c) and probably the mother of all versions of a cult car (the likes of the monte escort cossie springs to mind) for the cost of the two.
Now, take your S3 and row with another board. Or take up the challenge of racing one of 'our' boys around a track. Nurburgring October springs to mind. I am sure we will buy you a beer, cause your probably a nice bloke (but you have set your stalls in a rather ****e manner)
Now...where is that JD power survey my scooby friends....
Over and out.

This is getting silly and abusive. I agree with John F. The best way to
A. get the best out of your car
B. Compare it's performance with other cars in a safe and non racing environment
is to do it on an organised track day.
This goes for all types of cars, Audi's,
BMW's,Fords,Subaru,Mitsubishi,Nissan etc etc
Why not come along to a track day and find out. You'll have a laugh, learn a few things
and we'll probably learn something from you.
My lease runs out in 2 years and with the MY01 looking awful I may consider an S3 but
it needs to be as quick as my STD MY00. Which
by every road test i've ever read it is not, nor does it handle as well. But then it's interior is far better, and it's not a thief magnet so you pays your money and takes your pick. Most people here have impreza's(duh!) but some don't. Everyone is welcome. So join in, contribute but don't do it in a mine's better than yours tone. We all choose our cars for different reasons and pay a lot of money to Mr Blair,to de bank and to mr insurance company so why not enjoy the differences rather than crow over percieved and subjective advantages.
