Talking How lucky am I!!!?

How lucky am I!!!?

Got caught speeding at 99mph on the A1 back in May by a traffic cop. Was in my old 205 1.9 GTi at the time!

Got the papers through this morning, they've put 5 points on my licence and fined me £60 + £40 costs!!!!!! A £100 fine is damn good I thought! Was expecting much more than that!

Would be happy with a huge fine and 4 points if I ever get caught, I know I will one day but to be honest I dont tend to speed unless I'm on the motorway and even then its 80 max

Guess i should think myself lucky then. Got busted on the M1 in Jan this year, 7am in the morning, nothing else at all on the motorway, i've never seen it like that...

anyway, didn't even see this copper until he had been following me for 2 miles ... average speed 96mph, got let off with 3 points and a £60 fine

CEL, you were very lucky! I asked him if I could just take the 3 points, he said that because I was doing over 95mph that the courts would have to decide!

He added that if I was doing anything up to 85mph he wouldn't have bothered!

Learnt my lesson, got a speed camera detector now! I'll need it in 320bhp MY96 STI!!!!!!!

I got told the same when I got caught on an industrial estate on a Sunday
afternoon alegedly doing 59mph in a 30 zone. I ended up not going to court
but pleading guilty in writing and I got 5 points and 150 fine and 46 costs.
Could have been a lot worse.
Still quite a lot for the 44mph that I was actually doing

I got stopped in my Ford Focus Diesel company car at an average 96.5 mph!!
I also got let off by the traffic cop and he made me take a £30 fixed penalty for not wearing a seat belt (which I was) in its place Very nice of him I thought

My first ever points were for doing 86.9mph on the M4 at 3.30AM in my old Pug 205 GTi.

Fixed penalty 3 points and £30 fine.

Maybe, but seriously there was NOTHING on the M1 at the time and i think he realised i wasn't a danger to other road users. Simply because there wasn't any!

I managed nearly 16 years without getting busted, then get caught twice in the same year.

He also told me that. Anything up to 85mph he wouldn't have bothered me. First reading was 86, he caught up with me and the average was 96mph. What the hell was i doing, I'm normally so so careful and vigilant when it comes to doing a little over the speed limit. Maybe it's my age

What? You were asked to take a penalty for something you weren't doing wrong to get you off something that you also either weren't actually doing or he had insufficient evidence of?

If there's one thing that winds me up more than an inept copper it's a bent one and this one smacks of both.

Think what it's like having dropped three friends off at their home in the early hours of the morning and while proceeding to drive home myself i get a car stuck right up my ****. It's gone past 1am in the morning...no one else about on the road except something stuck up my boot. Can't see what it is, but i don't feel comfortable and have the feeling it may be some undesirables who know i'm on my own. I get out of the 40 mph zone and boot it with this car still behind me....until i begin to loose it allittle. About 7 miles later on come the blue lights.
Four months later i get a summons which includes a statement from the police officer, who was on his own, which put bluntly contains lies.
Claims he never was any closer then 150 yds to my car amongst other things.

Being done for driving without due care and attention....Initially he told me he was going to do me for dangerous driving....yet officer told me he couldn't fault the way i handled the car and actually complemented me.
Also being done for doing 110 mph according to his calibrated speedo.

Put bluntly this cop provoked a reaction from me in the early hours of the morning while i was on my own.
I would do the same again....but head in the direction of a Police Station or call 999.

I will be in court on Nov 8th, but am negotiating through my solicitor with the CPS to have the "driving without due care and attention" charge dropped and admit to speeding.
Although the police officer was on his own, i'm advised his word will be believed over mine...so much for fairness.

As for my feelings toward the Police, which i have always had a good measure of respect for....well, i have to say it is somewhat tainted.
