Question Which petrol ?

Hi All
picked up my first Scooby from Motorpoint last week. I know from previous threads that they import from Cyprus or Malta. On my fuel filler flap, it says to use 98 RON. My question being: do I need to carry on Optimaxing it as I have so far, or will a tank of Normal unleaded be OK. Is it a ECU issue?
Cheers
Dave

Unless it is remapped for other fuel you must run on 98 RON ie Optimax or Tesco 99.

I thought most Subaru's had 98RON on the fuel filler cap? In my manual it says 97RON, on the fuel filler cap it says 98RON.

I run it on Tesco 99RON, as this stuff rocks!

I ran mine on Optimax and still do after an Ecutek remap by Bob Rawle. Stay away from BP Ultimate in my opinion, caused my knock sensor to go ape sh*t

'EU' imports are exactly the same as UK spec cars.. on a standard engine you can of course stick normal UL in it, but why bother if it is (potentially) going to reduce the peformance? but it won't kill the engine if you have to do the odd tank...

In my '05 Cyprus WRX I run either Optimax or Superunleaded (97) from Sainsburys. Have also tried BP Ultimate.

I personally cant tell a difference.

In the owners manual it says you can use normal (95) unleaded if nothing else available, I think.

I Would try tesco's 99 if there was any nearby.

AFAIK

Optimax- Optimal (ahem) Ditto for Tesco 99RON so I hear.

Any SUL- Fine

Std unleaded- Will suffice, BUT your ECU will knock back the ignition timing and the cars performance/smoothness/pick up will be adversely affected. Personally, I'd avoid unless there really is nothing else.

At the end of the day, you get out what you put in!
