Scooby Newbie, looking to buy a 1998 SUBARU Impreza STi Type-R V
Just registered with ScoobyNet as I'm looking into purchasing my first Scooby. Currently dive an Audi TT which is currently running around 290BHP with **** loads of mods etc, but I feel I've come to a limit with the car.
Anyway, I've been shopping around and I've finally found a motor which I am seriously interested in and would like some basic advice on what to look out for?
The STI I am looking at is a 1998, STI Type R, VA Limited?
Here's the advert:
1998SUBARU Impreza STi Type-R VA
Limited, R reg. 60000 miles, Gunshot blue, 2dr, 6 months tax, intercooler, 12 months MOT, FSH, Cat 1 alarm, tracker, CD player, PAS, ABS, EW, EM, CL, air con, very clean, well looked after, no timewasters. £7,900. ono.
Any advice on the engine and mileage would be great, what BHP will they push as standard, torque, will it need a rebuild, if so what mileage etc etc...
Can't wait to venture into the Scooby scene as the TT one is somewhat boring!
Cheers

Hi and welcome to the site.
First of all £7900 for a Type R is very cheap imo, good ones are going for 10k.
276bhp as standard 230 torque presuming its a red top engine (red metalwork at top)
Do a search on the forums there are many similar threads that will give valuable advice.
