Question RB5 - Recommended????

Hi all,

I'm considering getting a RB5 shortly, and I thought, no place to get a true review than this forum.

The only review I've found so far has been a chap that has had problems with the engine and gearbox.

Whats your thoughts ?

Cheers

I'm on my second one now, first one Non WR Sport, second - WR Sport..

I love them.. Of course you will get however many people telling you its just a normal UK Turbo in a different colour and all that.. But i bought an RB5 cos of the Limited edition Status.. And the fact it got a really good review in EVO

Depends what you're after really.. If you just want a scooby you may as well but a normal UK turbo and save some money, if you want something a bit more limited and dont mind paying a bit more for it then go for the RB5

There is no greater liklihood of probs with an RB5 than any other UK turbo with or without PPP mate, as that's basically what they are; a UK turbo (with PPP in the case of the WR sport pack) with some nice cosmetic mods. They look great and are a desirable special edition!

The most critical thing with any Scooby is that it has been well looked after and driven with mechanical sympathy by an enthusiast not by a **** who's trashed it to within an inch of its life.

Get a loved one and chances are you'll be laughing!

Do be prepared for the running costs though! These are not cheap cars to keep.

All the best,

NS04

Totally agree. I bought a new MY00 classic with PPP instead of a slightly used 18-month old RB5 WR Sport in 2001, and always wondered if I did the right thing. I loved my car but after a year it was 'just another classic' where as an RB5 will always be a bit special.

Would say WR Sport is a must if you can afford it (to buy and insure).

Also has Prodrive sticker on right of bootlid
Cracking cars my brother has one and my mate has my old one both WR versions. Well worth the extra IMHO.
