Petrol Refineries Blockade planned - 14th September
Just saw this on the BBC website:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4221296.stm
Looks like they're planning to block all the UK refinieries from the 14th September if the level of fuel tax is not cut...
Best fill up quick!
Should be interesting to see what the government/police will do this time (after they brought in measures to stop this happening again)

If they're still there when I get back from hols I'll be joining them. Anyone who's complained about the price of fuel should - it's better than doing nothing. As fuel prices climb to terrifying levels, when the police turn up we just use the standard “it’s our war on terror” excuse like everyone else. Come on guys, a line of scoob’s will look miles better than the Massey Ferguson’s!

Good to see that people have had enough.
Can someone explain that when the price of crude goes up and the oil companies say they are forced to increase prices, they make huge extra profits!!! How terribly embarassing for them!

government also rakes in extra vat every time the price goes up.
heating oil is now at 35p per litre for those who can't get gas. 5 years ago it was approx 18p a litre. not sure on the tax on heating fuel 8%? so even the government are gaining extra revenue here hand over fist.

Thinking of investing in a jerry can for the weekend, just in case. Already have the octane booster, just in case I can't get Optimax/SUL.

That's the ultimate flaw in the blockades. While everyone likes the idea, eventually you get everyone stockpiling, moaning they can't go anywhere, and generally getting hacked off with it....
If you want a real protest, you have to be prepared to bed in, and support it to the end which DOES mean YOU will not be able to drive anywhere.
If you stockpile, YOU are defeating the purpose of it.
However, given this is selfish Britain we're talking about, everyone wants a blockade so long as THEY can still drive about

I'll be surprised if it does happen.
I live a few miles away from Texaco and TotalFina/Murco in Pembrokeshire. I'll go and have a look but I doubt they'll be anything there.
Seems crazy that Wales is paying the highest price for fuel yet theres 2 refineries down the road.

At 70p/litre, oil companies get 12p a litre, govt gets 58p
