At the end of the day Imlach its the fact thats it WAY too much thats pissing everyone off, be it 70% or 80% tax or whatever!

I'd totally support any blockades, but I get the feeling the governments new draconian laws which were introduced after the last protests will make it very hard to stage a new protest.

Well, going from 70p/litre to 100p/litre, the goverment gets an extra 5p, the oil companies get an extra 25p. Who's profiting

Since we were paying 70p/litre, to now when we are paying £1/litre, the price increases are as follows.

The oil companies are now getting 203% more money from your £1.
The government is getting 8% more from your £1.

Tax has to come from somewhere, but the amount of tax that needs to collected isnt fixed.

I think what pisses everyone off is that fact that so much of their hard-earned is taken in tax then they see it pissed away on stuff like Millenium dome, Legal aid for scroungers, spent on immigrants who nobody wants here etc etc.

OH Bugger, Im off on my hols on the 19th, Id best fill a few jerry cans up with diesel, just to be on the safe side.

It would be nice to make a token gesture and blockade central London at the same time, Blair and his cronies live in their own world, so coming back down to real life with a bump would do them all no end of good.

We've just had a client in the office who is a security gaurd at Texaco Milford Haven. All security staff have been called in over the next 24 hours due to fuel protest threats.

Everyone was up for it last time............but in reality the majority of the people encouraging the blockades got bored after four or five days when their independence was really affected.

Did nothing for the local courier businesses either a couple of which went under owing me some money.

What was the price of petrol when they did the blockades last time?

Refinary blockagders = absolute idiots - After all the hassle it caused the public, the violence towards the drivers and the sweet FA good it did in the long run last time...? This is being organised by a bunch of stupid selfish idiots causing trouble for the sake of it (those who probably have the facility to safely stockpile gallons while the rest of jeopardise our careers because we cant do our jobs...

If the government got twitchy everytime a few hundered mindless zombies protested we'd live in a state of anarchy.

Prices will drop again in the coming months, then they will rise a bit, drop a bit rise a bit etc and end up higher than they used to be...
In fact I'm going to organise a blockade outside Mother natures house, She's not provided enough oil for our every wim for eternity and then the callous b1itch throws in a hurricane to knock off most of the yanks supply thus putting up prices....Its a better location to aim our distaste than at the innocent workers trying to earn a days pay safely...

I've just been out and panic bought some fuel but I was the only person in the petrol station so word doesn't seem to have got around up here yet Only paid 94.9p a litre for it too.

It will be inconvenient and there will be some innocent casualties for whom I have genuine sympathy. However, it is imperative that British citizens are prepared to actively protest against a perceived injustice. This is the final bastion of hope within what is fast becoming an elected dictatorship. We, the people, DO have power and this must be wielded.

There are too many people nowadays willing to just stand there whilst the tax man/government pull there trousers down. Look at the state of this country now, the services, roads, schools, hospitals, state care etc are down the pan where once they where the envy of the world. I won't even go in to foreign policy! I don't mind paying out in taxes if I see benefits for the british public, but I don't....so screw 'em I say.

Quite right, what the politicians seem to forget, is that it is THEM who should be working for US, after all, it is us that vote for them. Once they've got their votes and their place of power, it seems that the only ones they are interested in are themselves!

If you TRULY feel like protesting, you should be boycotting purchasing fuel. Oh, but what you REALLY want is for everyone else to be affected and not No.1? Selfish protesters!

A full tank of fuel only lasts four days? That's a bit of a sweeping statement isn't it? Last week I filled up in the morning, drove hundreds of miles then filled up again in the evening. I haven't had to fill up again until today exactly seven days later. I think you'll find it all depends on the type of car, size of engine, speed and driving conditions, mileage covered...

The "injustice" of fuel tax really is a matter of opinion though...not a fact.

OK, this is how I see taxation. Would you vote for me if the ONLY tax was VAT?
The more you spend, the more you pay. It's the fairest method of taxation surely. Targets those who have inherited wealth and are not employed.
