Whats the difference between 95 and 98ron
Just filled up my Euro WRX with 95ron and noticed a sticker inside the petrol flap which said use only 98 ron. On checking the handbook it says 'Your engine is designed to provide satisfactory performance by using unleaded gasoline with an octane rating 98 or higher. This octane is the research octane number. If unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 98 or higher is not available unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 95 or higher may be used. Use of gasoline with an octane rating lower than 98 will detract from engine performance and driveability'
Does anyone know how much difference it will make to use 98ron assuming you can get it and what if any problems am I likely to encounter if I keep using the 95ron the car seems to run OK on it.

About 5 pence around these parts.
In basic terms, the RON is the figure given to the fuels ability to prevent detonation.
There was a long-winded thread on here about 9-12 months ago with some extensive explainations. (Search through my posts - highlander68k and RON should turn something up)

Its a MY05 as I said it seems to run OK so not sure if its worth paying the extra
