Depreciation Value
Hi Guys
What sort of Depreciation would i be looking at on a 53 plate WRX STi in say 2 years?
I am on the market for either a STi or FRS. I know the RS is likely to hold its value better than the STi but by how much?
I have seen a few STi's for about 16k which i thought was good on a 53 plate, or is there better?

I've just been offered 12K in part-X on my 9 month old WRX with 13k on the clock
Its the worst depreciating car I've ever owned.
The new 06 model and fact they are giving PPP for free on the 05 cars they are trying to shift is driving down resale values they tell me

I suppose i cant really compare the RS to the STi as for number of reasons but i really dont want to pay all that money out now what with the new shape coming out soon.
Would it be wise to wait until nearer the release of the new model to get an even better deal?

So you should not worry about depreciation if buying a 2 year old car. Makes sense really - you lose your shirt if trying to sell a 1 year old car.

Im trying to sell my MY04 WRX and even thought I cant sell it back to the garages, they said if they were to take it of my hands they would give between 12 - 13 for it. Thats over 5 grand in 18 months. Its so annoying as I have used the same garage over and over and they were always so good, but now no-one wants it. (selling due to emigration otherwise i would never let it go, untill it come to part x it!!!)

5 grand in 18months is'nt bad to be honest in the current market. With VAT & car tax included in a new car the dealer is giving you a price that allows him to resell the car again. He will prob put it up for 15k & allow a service / trade in against it. If STI's are selling for less than 16k private I would take it. You could try private yourself but I don't recon you will achieve much more sorry to say.
Just think, at least you are emigrating out of this sh1tehole of a country

According to June's Glass's Guide the trade price for an 53 plate WRX STi Type UK with 21K is £15275 . A 54 plate car with 9K is valued at £17225 (trade).
So you're looking at a 2K drop in a year. What you may have to bear in mind is that the value of these cars seem to be dropping like a stone at the moment. E.g. The trade value of the 54 plate STi dropped by £700 from May 05 to June 05!!
Also IIRC 20 - 7 = 13.
