Stalled. Why?

Question

Cuaght up in a traffic jam last week. 3 times after iddling then trying to pull away the engine just died. Anyone else had this problem?

Yes, I suffered the same problem several times when I was learning to drive. I then progressed to "kangarooing" the car down the road. The problem was easily fixed by years of subsequent experience on the road. However, if you need to get it sorted sooner, try buying an automatic

I suppose I should have expected a response like that! The problem seems more electrical than mechanical.

If it was a hot day then fuel vapourising in the fuel line is a possibility.

I read this somewhere once, a very common cause of breakdown in the uk, it applies to all cars.?

I didnt have a lot of fuel left in the car. But it restarted ok - 4 times within 1 min. The car is totally std - no extras fitted.
