Default 1/4 mile - launch help.

Just a quicky, can anyone advise the best way to launch a scoob on a 1/4 mile drag (or anywhere in fact!) Never done the 1/4 in a scoob before, so I appreciate advice for a decent time.

I`ve heard you hold the revs at 4-5k, then feed in the clutch!!! Right or wrong?

ta, Cliff

I launch at about 5.5-6k in my uk. It has a P1 clutch and lightened fly. It launches very smoothly.

Well the clutch is already at biting point so its just a case of lifting up and applying more throttle. Its hard to explain really!

So i suppose yeah, just snap your foot up! Youll see how easy it can be after a few gos!

You can also hold the bite point and keep the car on its handbrake until its time to launch.5500rpm,bite point and let the clutch up fast dont sidestep it.Do it a few times and youll soon get the hang of it.

find out where your torque peaks(if its 4000rpm) bring the revs up to 3500,bring the clutch up a little just under biting, as soon as the yellow lights go out GO,dont hold with the hand brake it will cost you time once your moving get your foot away from the clutch

1) get the engine up to a massive 2,000 rpm
2) Sidestep the clutch
3) restart the engine
4) crawl away embarrassed

Job done

Not if you tape the button up and release on the amber.

you will still be slower as your doing an extra move that isnt needed

unless your going up hill + holding it at biting point will burner you clutch out

That's a very respectable time mate and what I'd expect from a car like yours Having driven your car I was very impressed with it and it is very rapid (well maybe too rapid for you )

Was that up at Santa pod?

I'd say that your car is capable of that The driver is another matter

It does take alot of practise and as you found out today it isn't as easy as it looks. I normally get so nervous approaching the line (normally because I'm in a totally different car ) but after the first run that tends to go away.

What launch technique were you using today? How did you fare compared to your mates?
