Default Picking up new car

As from 5pm today, I'll be picking up my new STi Type uk. Can't wait. It's been ready for the last 2 weeks but been waiting for my plate transfer to go through. Just had a ring from the dealer this morning to say the transfer has gone through and it's ready to collect. This is my first Impreza and really looking forward to the ownership experience.

5pm can't come soon enough

All I have to do when I get it is rack up a 1000 miles asap, so I can get the free PPP on it.

A very happy STIlover

Always run my cars in the same. nothing over 3000rpm for first 500 miles.
500 - 1000 miles vary revs through rev range, but never red lining, always keep at least 1000 revs off red line.
1000 miles + No limit

Congratulations.

Hmmm, interesting though...
The dealer has said they are going to fit my free PPP straight off. Which is going to make the first 1k miles less than 3000rpm quite tricky

Picking up my new STi on Friday or Saturday with some 18" Prodrive alloys attached - maybe I'll see you at a meet some day.

Just a quick post to say thanx for all your comments. Much appreciated. Will deffo get myself to some meets. Will check the forum for dates.

Uroboros, my dealer deffo says that they don't fit them until a 1000 miles to let the engine run in a bit, before the power upgrade. One of our dealers is wrong, but which one ?????

They did say something about not fitting it till the first service then appeared to change their minds. Something to do with sending off the ECU back to Subaru to get the new PPP bits back. They said they'd then fit the new ECU and PPP bits before I picked it up.

No harm done as long as I don't leave skid marks on the showroom floor as I drive off

I'm picking mine up in a couple of weeks, dealer said they would fit the PPP prior to pickup. Should make the running in a bit easier as it will have a bit more power lower down.

Should be alright so long as you keep your pants on

Seriously though picking up 05sti end of the month and dealer is fitting the ppp before its picked up due to sending the ecu back to prodrive. Apparently prodrive will not release the ppp until they recieve the ecu as some dealers have not returned them in the past.
