Took my WRX on the M/Way today..
L reg one that is..Not really impressed TBH
At 80 MPH the revs are at 4k! Just felt like it wasn't liking it at all and needed another gear, is this because of the lower gearing than the UK cars? Putting your foot down in 5th is good for a while but the performance trails off a bit.

Mine does (did) 3.2krpm @ 80 iirc (99T UK).. A slightly lower ratio than both an escort or pug 205 from personal experience.. They both did 20mph per 1krpm, as you are getting..

but it does feel like it needs a 6th proper gear (unlike the 6 speed boxes, 1 to five spread between 6) sometimes, especaily on long runs.

I love mine on the m'way - I cruise at 80 and when bored blat up to a ton and back. Feels like it takes no time at all between 80-120.
(MY95 WRX, decatted etc. about 280bhp).
From memory its about 3700rpm at 80 - could be wrong there though.

Mine's the same too - about 4k at "an indicated" 80mph! My speedo isn't that accurate either but still....I'm used to it!
Gearing seems fine to me - as someone said...put your foot down and you soon pick up!
Cheers

I just expected it to cruise at lower revs to be honest and at 4K it sort of gets a bit annoying and you can only go fast for so long!
Thanks to the people who gave proper responces there
P1doc i was saying that 4k is a bit annoying to cruise at when doing 80.And my car dosn't need to drop a gear to accelerate i can assure you.
