Thumbs up

Think you can 'rent' a model report, then pay the sva fees.

I'm guessing from the SVA for a kit car that all kit-cars with a post 1995 engine have to have a Cataylic converter fitted for the SVA test and I suppose the dBA of the exhaust has to comply too.

Is this the same for a personal import?

If so, you can buy a Kit-Car builders bible which tells you all the parameters that need to be met to comply with the SVA test. This book costs around £18. Just have a look in the Which Kit? magazine, I think the kit car bible is mail order only tho.

You'll find that there are different rules for kit cars and production cars now. Kit cars certainly do now need a cat and need to pass both noise and emissions tests, but they don't need a model report (which wouldn't make much sense anyway as they're all different).

Production cars need to pass the Enhanced SVA (ESVA) test and have a model report.

If you get it done at Bristol I can't see why it would cost more than £650 - £700 quid all in. I've had 2004 cars done elsewhere and it ain't dear. The only difference may be the cost of the model report rental, but it shouldn't be much.

In my experience the top line for renting the Model Report would be £450-£500 and the parts required shouldnt top £100. SVA prep is a lark isnt it?

I hope the car you're bringing in is completely standard or you can add some more to that figure.

Good luck getting it sorted. It looks like you're in safe hands now and won't get ripped off.

I'm getting mine done in Cyprus before I ship it back to the UK and its costing me £400, and things are ALOT more expensive here!

Speedo convertor is only £30! They are really ripping you off!
