Header tank help please
I have a leaking radiator header tank,it is the plastic type on a MY96WRX.
I have brought a 2nd hand metal type and need advise on fitting.
Has anyone any pics of there metal header tank please.
Only one mounting bracket lines up.It looks to me like i need some kind of bracket between the inlet manifold and the header tank.
Thanks all

Mate, sounds like you have brought a new age header. No problem.
I had the very same graphite tank let go a couple of years ago in my car. Sourced a replacement from Grade A Subaru. Cast alloy tank new age. Like you say not all mounts line up.
I used some alloy material for a mounting bracket. Pitched in the holes from the inlet manifold then marked of the holes from the tank. once the holes where drilled i spent a little time at the bench making a nice profile of it all. Bolted the lot together using the original bolts for inlet mounts and new bolts and spring washers for the tank to bracket mount.
My cast alloy tank is a much better tank than the original graphite tank imo. Just needed a good scrub up and a spray and all looks pretty damed good. £50 inc pipe work. Not to bad i thought. Pipe run was a little different though, trim the hose here and there and alls well.
Oh, i should say my car is the v2 STi (96) real similar to your set up i shouldn't wonder.

Basically the tank is sitting on a aluminium plate. Without measureing the thing i'd say its about .150" to .200" gauge. Four holes. Two for the inlet manifold & Two for the tank. Plate then profiled so it sits snuggly underneath tank. Might need a washer or two just to raise the tank keeping it reasonably level as possable in its mount if that makes sense.
Hope that describes it for you.

Now edited so should read a bit better.
