Wipers...Grrrr..!!
Went in to Halfrauds at about 3:45pm yesterday (Sunday) to grab a pair of wipers. Decide to go for the Bosch set as Halfrauds own brand don't seem much good (judging by previous experience). Looked in the little flip chart thingy they have and All Imprezas 2000 on are listed as 22/22S. Ok, so thats both 22". Grabbed the pack, looked inside and the spoiler on the drivers wiper wasn't the same as was on the pic on the outside of the box! Looked at the single and it was... So what's that all about? the spoiler on the wiper in the set was some manky little crappy one, and the individual was full length decent spoiler.
So, off home I go, whip the old wipers off and put the drivers side on, lovely, no probs, go to put the passengers side on and WTF?!!??? It's MILES too big, even extends past the A pillar.??!! It's 3 minutes to 4 now, so I dash back to said "store" to be greeted by "Oh. well, you'll have to take the one that fits off and return it as a pack." "Can't you just replace the offending INCORRECT 22inch passenger side wiper for the CORRECT 17"..?" "No". My mistake, that's too easy ain't it! Then I discover they don't even do 22S/17 sets
Can someone tell me the correct size of the passenger wiper on an '03 Blobeye WRX? And why do Halfrauds have crap information in their flip charts and such unhelpful staff..???
I think the PIAA ones are a bit too pricey, so has anyone got any other suggestions aprt from a Bosch set (not from Halfrauds, obviously!).
Ta,
Nige.

I fitted Bosch to MY03 WRX and have noticed a couple of scratches on the windscreen! Not sure if it is the wiper blades fault but I will monitor it and change them if any more start to appear.

Used to have PIAA - great but pricey, lasted 12 months which is okay - and now have Bosch ones from German and Sweedish. IMO, just as good as the PIAA ones and less than £10 for the pair.
Take your old wipers with you and that way you won't buy the wrong ones - oh, PIAA didn't make the same size wipers as the original ones but they were only out by an inch and caused no interference.

I have PIAA silicon wipers, yeah bit pricey but superb results. Had them 15 months now and they are just starting to smear (I got two so still have the second wipe to use )

I take it you have a wagon then Nige as they have the smaller wiper on the passanger side but AFAIK the saloons were the same?
Tried the silicone wipers on another car and it didn't really make that much difference - just keep your normal wipers and screen clean with a good de-greaser and they'll be fine.

Are there any wipers that are slightly curved to fit the screen? I got the Bosch ones and they don't clean the bottom of the screen! Plus they are useless after less than a month.
I was told by a windscreen fitter, that the silicon ones are bad, because they can't repair your windscreen, their repairing stuff won't adhere to the silicon. So you have to pay the £50 excess on the insurance and have a new screen. Any comments?

Had PIAA ones for around 15 months and think they're fantastic. Once you get above 70 MPH, you can turn the wipers off again. Expensive, but well worth it IMHO. I'll definately get another set next time.
Think Motoman do them cheap

Got my PIAA ones from this site via Scoobyshop link which gives you discount, even tells you what size for which model years.

I did that as well Bought the Bosch set - fitted fine, if a little short.
I then bought the back one yesterday. Flip chart was missing the page that had the correct size in the Bosch range, and I couldn't be @rsed waiting in the queue to speak to the bloke, so bought the Halfords own one
About half the quality, and it doesn't fit, so I'll either have to grind the edge off the wiper stalk, or take it back Don't want to spend all my days off shopping around there, so I think it'll be the grindstone.

to digress slightly, I saw Wilkinson's doing a twin pack of Rain-X for £4.99.
I've got the PIAA jobbies - still going strong after over a year, can totally recommend them.
