Had my cars 1000 mile service at cheam motors, complained about crap wiper blades, told me they had cleaned the blades.I just raised my eyebrows,my job is actually a service manager so Iknow a crap blade when im looking through one.The question i ask is this enough to loose a customer over or are they just running into bad times. When I bought my previous car from spring park, told martin about the blades, changed them on the spot, and knew they are rubbish. The Cheam crew told me they had not had a problem before, funny the bloke in front of me was also moaning about his lack of visability on a new car

Erm....about 4 years And that's for pretty much all cars I have owned.
Lucas/champion wiper blades BTW
May I suggest you turn off the wipers when it's not raining and use the intermittant when it is only light spray
Also, make sure you don't get residual build up on the glass (diesel is a right PITA). clean using a vinegar based window cleaner with 2 pieces of kitchen roll - one for wiping on, one for wiping off and polishing. If that doesn't work you maybe need to switch to something a little more stronger - such as methylated spirits, then finish off with window cleaner again.
Also, when the windscreen is iced up....defrost the wiper blades and unstick them from the glass with de-icer/heater before turing on the wipers.
Seriously...6months!! Your either unlucky or doing something wrong!

I tried drinking methylated spirits once, while cleaning my windscreen, but it didn't work. I got in the car and everything was even more blurred than before . To be honest I've had 2 new Imprezas over the last 20 months and only the most recent one has had a problem of a smeared patch right in the field of view on the drivers side that wasn't cured by meticulous cleaning. Its not deformed and has not sustained any other damage that I remember but it has to be said that they are a flimsy affair, especially in comparison to a Golf GTIt I had a couple of years ago.

yeah piaa's for me got them from scooyworld at the weekend.clean the windows as normal, then use the enclosed wipes for extra cleaning. let the solution dry then polish it off after 10 minutes. turn on wipers for a minute and let the wipers leave a coating of silicone on the window. done ! the rain just beads off. GREAT !

Just over two years on the original blades. Now on Champion Aerovantage because my previous favourites VX are no longer made.
I noticed quite a 'set' on the old blades when I removed them, because they always wipe and park on the downstroke (obviously). You might get quite a few extra months out of them by turning the rubber blade around in the arm. I didn't notice until I'd removed them but they are ready in the garage for next time I need some 'new' blades.
