Do you mean how much fuel is in the tank when the red light comes on? If so, then I reckon it's about 11 litres or approx 1/5 of the tank. How many miles depends on how your driving style, assume 20 - 40 miles, but I tend not to go beyond 15 to be on the safe side.

hi,,

idont Recommend driving on the Red light , Your Fuel Pump might get overheated and finally fail to operate after several drivesin the same condition..

Yeah pretty safe to say that - you get a lot of sludge in your tank at the bottom that you won't want going through your engine, best staying far away (I've only ever had the light on once or twice while I've owned my car)

How does that work?
Does the fuel passing thru the pump act as coolant?

Even if it did, surely until there was very little/no fuel passing thru it IE running out and coming to a stop, it wouldnt make much difference, by which time... you would be stopped and switched off?

J

Edited to say:- Just seen Blueboys response.

That makes sense

Was gonna say... I do loads of motorway miles, so between fuel stops I regularly went into the orange so to speak, I never felt any problems that you'd imagine there would be if there was sludge in the tank..
