Optimax 90.9 pence ouch!!
The garage I go too seem to put the price of optimax up by a penny every week a few weeks ago it was 85.9 now it's 90.9 it's getting ridiculous driving my Impreza is good but at the rate petrol is rising I cant take much more time to sell the scooby and get a diesel.

The franchise garages do tend to be much more expensive. There is one in Kidderminster I refuse to use because the Optimax has been as high as 98.9. 4 miles up the road it is 85.9.
I did email Shell about a month moaning about the difference in pricing and the fact that we can't have V-Power. They've only just got round to replying with this:

Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding fuel pricing and availability of grades.
Within the Shell UK network we have service stations owned by Shell and operated as franchises and privately owned garages where we have a fuel supply contract only. At these privately owned service stations, we recommend a fuel retail price but the owner does not necessarily have to follow this advice. Normally the price differential between Premium unleaded and Shell Optimax is 5-6 pence per litre at company owned sites.
There is a site locator available on-line at www.shell.co.uk, this can be found by selecting 'Shell for Motorists' from the left hand navigation bar, and then 'Service Stations'. One of the search options is for Shell Optimax.
Shell V-Power will not be introduced to the UK. Shell has a Global programme of developing unique fuels tailored to meet local customer needs on a market by market basis. Shell has already successfully launched differentiated fuels like V-Power in over 30 countries around the world. We have, however, gone out of our way to tailor each fuel specifically for the requirements of the consumers, their cars and local legislation in each country. V-Power is not the same as Optimax, it is solely a performance based initiative (the increased performance is not necessarily octane derived), whereas Optimax is both a performance and protection based initiative, and in general it is a higher octane fuel. Shell Optimax is a completely new unleaded petrol giving Optimum performance and maximum protection.
Yours sincerely,
Matthew Wagster

I find generally the further North you go the more expensive it gets. That excludes London boroughs cos they just take the p!ss but I commute Southampton to Leeds and back every weekend and I guarantee I can find Optimax cheaper 'dahn sahf' than 'ooop north'..

Paid 89.9p/litre here in Nottingham last night. Looks like it's going to be an expensive trackday in a couple of weeks...

Use Sainsbury's super unleaded - I have not noticed any performance diff to Optimax?
Last week it was 83.9 just 1p more than standard unleaded.
Will fill up today so hope its the same (or less)
