Default wrx sti vs uk turbo

I had a race with my brothers jap import 1996 wrx sti from the lights, just to see the performance between the cars, he reckons his car has lost power for some strange reason and maybe the spark plugs are the wrong type or knackered!Or ecu problems I kept up with him in my 97 uk turbo the only mods on my car is an afterburner vortex backbox. He was in front 3 feet, and then gained at 80 mph then i could not keep up! He used to be able to leave my car for dead. What could be wrong with his car it weighs 500kg less than my impreza turbo, cheers if anyone can help

Yeah, a UK Turbo is about 1300KG. To get an Impreza down to 800KG is some feat...that's about the weight of a 1.0 Nova

Well that answers that then!

It could be anything, without any symptoms, it would be impossible to try and offer advice. I would suggest if he feels it is losing power, take it to a specialist.

So many possible reasons why it's lost power, impossible to diagnose from that description.

Is he pushing the loud pedal all the way to the floor?

lmao at those uk turbo weights

is that with rik waller and vanessa phelps in the back?

the gross weight that you refer to is the MAX weight the vehicle and contents can weigh. the uk turbo (classic <=MY2000) is 1235kg kerb weight.

more than likely needs the maf cleaning ,ecu resetting, new plugs fitting NGK's,octane booster, and taking for a good thrash
if its still poor take it to a specialist to check boost pressure etc

Maybe it was michelle macmanus, that would explain the power loss

Thought the problem was with your brothers car?
I would suggest speaking to Pete @ Prosport in Stockport. Very helpful, polite and really know their stuff... in fact I believe they have just become IM approved. As for the ecu reset, all that will have done is clear the ecu of any fault codes that will be effecting boost etc...
Free remap... think Id like one of those...

Yes it is my brothers car, he has been on here using my user name, my impreza turbo is running fine 0-60 in 5.3 seconds thats with me and my brother it would be faster without him in it he lol! The only thing wrong with my motor is there is a strange noise when you drive at low revs or slowly in first gear and i have had someone who knows his stuff to have a look at it, he reckons it could be the small end if it is my car has been thrashed and will have to get rid of it cos it will cost a grand to sort it
