I'm very tempted to buy a Legacy twinT (its a little different) are there any particular things to watch out for with these?
Do all the 4cams have twin turbos?
Do all the twinturbos have 4cams?
cheers

There's no relationship between the number of cams and turbos.
The Subaru range of boxer engines all have 4 camshafts.

So the GTBs and such have basically the same engine as the Impreza(?) but with an extra turbine and piping? Presumably they spool off separate manifolds?Am I right in saying theres a 2.5 T also, is this more of a restrained machine?
Is there anywhere online with details of these?
So many questions, sorry

Try the direct Japanese importers or the US websites as they get the 2.5T over there (USDM 2005):

TT's are 2ltr, with one turbo on either side of the block.
Power 260 auto, 280 manual (age dependent).
Running gear is basically the same as it's little brother
Watch out for lazy autos, piston slap.
'B's have Bilstien suspension.
Always fully load with better build q.

Are GTB's and such fully undersealed or should I expect them to rot from the inside out
Are all UK model Legacy T's single turbo?

AFAIK they're all undersealed.
I know mine is, and it was shipped into the uk new.
2Q, yes, and old, last ones I think are 'L' reg
All TT's are JDM only.
As of yet, there are no plans to sell (offically) the new Legacy/GTB Twin scoll over here
The best your get (uk) is the 3.0R.

Maybe it was undersealed on arival cos it was new?
How hard is it to find a specialist to work on the TwinT
I live in derbyshire and already have had an excellent experience of TSL 'cos I currently have two Saab Turbos, a c900 Turbo8 and a 9000CSE Turbo (watch me get slated now)

Ken,
Having looked under mine, it would make for some very interesting masking,
especially in the areas of frt & rr suspension
Plus that, it's painted, I wouldn't of thought the importer would have bothered with paint.
TSL.... say no more, already well catered for then

From what I've found, 5 grand seems about right for a '97 but the one major thing that worries me is the dubious rep that so many import companies have.
Would I be best looking for one like yours Mark ie: imported when new?
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I'm guessing that the insurance group is around the same as my 900T, group 17

Ken,
Buying a used car is always fraut with danger.
If you thinks something is amiss, don't buy it.
If it's with a long running import specialist, offering warrenties etc from the word go, probably not a bad bet.
Make sure it has a BIMTA cerificate, if it's a recent import.
Finding a 'UK new' one will be hard, as more and more are coming in used.
Going private, you want a good history, recorded servicing etc.
If it's local, see if TSL will give it a once over.
Insurance 19/20
