First impreza today
Hi
Just got my Impreza Turbo this morning, xreg 2000 wagon Had to be a wagon for work) and since taking it out I have grinned non stop like a kiddie locked in a sweet shop. Trouble is I just got home and the better half asked if she could take her friend home in the Scooby.............bearing in mind that my evenings entertainment could hinge on the answer to this question, I reluctently agreed so as I sit here writing this I am a tad on the nervous side about my new toy (and considering I havn't actually taxed it yet!) and won't relax until I hear it coming back up the driveway.
One thing I did point out to her before she left was that if anything was to happen to it, she should consider going to her parents instead of back home to me.
In all honesty I am chuffed to bits with it so far, and its great to find the community for the car is as big and vibrant as it appears.
Cheers
Rich

welcome
Welcome geezer...
I have had my WRX wagon now for 3 weeks...still get the grins and thrills.
Domestically impossible situation, wife has now offered her Celica for sale saying that we don't really need 2 cars .. . You know what that means.. .
Kids now want a lift to their mates..never happened with a 'normal' car.
Upside is it is an absolute pleasure to drive a car that the majority of road users appreciate, even bus drivers respect you !!
The scooby is a unique car and it makes people happy, from drivers to pedestrians...enjoy the experience.

Welcome mate. Glad your enjoying your new toy. Hope you get it back in one piece
I dont mean to scare you so early but depending on where you live you may want to reconsider letting missy drive it. Mine used to until I got held up at gunpoint and I never let her drive it anymore as the outcome would have most definately been alot nastier
Enjoy your new toy mate

Lol....thanks for the welcome, the only reason I hadn't taxed it yet is because Norwich Union are slooooow sending me the insurance bumpf through, never thought about it invalidating the insurance though.....good point.
I'm just 30 and getting married in a couple of weeks, so I thought I had better get the car before the ball and chain get attached But to her credit she brought it back in one piece.....with a grin to match mine. I hope she doesn't get to like it too much though, driving her Picasso would be such a let down after driving the Scooby (although technically its hers as I had to put both cars and the insurance in her name, but I guess thats what you get for 10 years company car driving and in effect no NCD)
One other thing, where would you suggest taking the car to have the performance etc checked over just to basically make sure everything is workiing how it should? It had its last service about 5k ago according to the history, but I would like the piece of mind of seeing it in black and white.
I bought the car from a general used car dealer, but would Subaru 'check it over' obviously for a fee or would I be better going to a specialist tuning centre of some description?
Anyway enough waffle for now

Servicing depends on where you are, mine goes to Scooby Clinic (www.Scoobyclinic.com) at Chestefield, but it's whatever suits you

Hiya Geezer,
As a new owner myself, I know exactly what you mean! Glad you're chuffed with it and hope your GF brings it back unscathed! :-)
Best.

It's probably too late now, but most insurance companies will recognise your company-car driving record when setting NCD - it's in their interest after all as it's a recognition of claim-free driving and the competition will recognise it. All they require from you is a letter from your employer(s) to the effect that you've had x claims on y dates.

When I first got mine the girlfriend said she wouldn't drive it.
Now it's any excuse to get behind the wheel!
